One of the agencies I came across that looks over chemicals in our foods that cause diseases is NIEHS. The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences is responsible for researching chemicals found in the food which cause diseases in the human body. This agency provides funds to those interested in studying and researching about exposures from the environment and their impact on obesity.
Another agency was the National Toxicology Program (NTP). This agency is on a national level and studies toxics and provides information on exposures to toxics. Since obesogens are not good for our health, I would consider them toxics that could harm ones body.
Awesome topic choice. Obesogens are a legitimate concern. Some can be absorbed through the skin, and many persist in the environment for years. I think looking into the NIEHS is a great idea for research, and I’m interested to learn more about the National Toxicology Program - I had no idea one existed!
ReplyDeleteExcellent topic! Since we learned about obesogens, I haven't been able to keep them out of my mind! I look forward to your findings, this is such an important topic!
