The one thing that I personally find troubling with climate change is the fact that not everyone is educated on this topic, and the impact it will have on the overall lifestyle of every living thing on this planet. Some people have some basic knowledge, but it is important for people to really understand this concept, since the impact is so major.
As a public health professional I think the footprint we leave is the one thing that needs major attention. I think it is important for the public to have knowledge on how to reduce their ecological footprint and try to protect the environment. Learning about this will be a great challenge, but with an amazing outcome.
There is so much on climate change online and simple videos that describe it all. As mentioned before, I would educate them on their impact and contribution to this matter. I think once everyone understands their roles it will lead to a much safer future.
Hey Sintia!
ReplyDeleteI agree completely with your points above.
The energy industry is flush with profit and power, and has leveraged its influence to corrupt individuals, politicians, institutions and the population at-large. Disinformation campaigns, political contributions, and legislative battles are just a few of the tools that the industry has been using for decades to combat climate-conscious regulation.
Meanwhile, their disinformation campaigns have been highly effective in dissuading the public from accepting the reality of climate change in the US and abroad. It's disheartening, but the only way forward is to keep pushing back, keep resisting, and keep educating.
Hi Sintia! Education is definitely a major factor in addressing the issue of climate change. This is further thwarted by politicians and other leaders who help to continue to misinform the public. Empowering the community through education is essential in order to push against the capitalistic influences of industries that continue to profit off of the public's ignorance.
